Luna Hotel Baglioni, Venice, San Marco
"Oldest hotel in Venice, good garden views, great ambience"
In its aristocratic and beautiful surroundings, the Luna Hotel Baglioni offers its guests a delightful break with a view of the San Marco Basin and the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. The 109 rooms and suites, all air-conditioned and furnished with class and refinement, revive the charm of bygone days.
In 1118 the Knights Templars stayed here on their way to the Holy Land. As far back as 1574, the chronicles mention the hotel by the name Locanda della Luna (Moon Inn). In the eighteenth century, the building was decorated with the frescoes which adorn the sumptious Salome Marco Polo, painted by artists from the school of Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. A recent resoration, completed in 1992, has brought the building back to its original splendour.
